Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme Alumni Association (JETAA)
Victoria, Tasmania & South Australia chapter... WELCOME

The Victoria, Tasmania & South Australia chapter of the Japan Exchange and Teaching Programme Alumni Association (JETAA Vic/Tas/SA) is an organisation consisting of former JET Programme participants, supported by the Consulate General of Japan in Melbourne and Japan's Council of Local Authorities for International Relations (CLAIR).

Founded in 1992, our alumni association has grown from its humble beginnings of only a few members to today's thriving membership of over 300. For anyone who has participated in the Japan Exchange and Teaching (JET) Programme, look no further - we are a ready-made circle of friends who have shared similar experiences and who have a strong appreciation of Japan and the JET Programme.

Our objectives are numerous, centred around assisting new JET Programme participants to survive Japan, and helping to make the transition back into Australian society (reverse culture shock) easier for those returning from the Programme. In addition, we seek to promote the knowledge and understanding of Japan, its people and its culture in Australia, and conversely, of Australia in Japan.

The JETAA Vic/Tas/SA newsletter is published four times a year, containing articles, event listings and general interest information. Any ideas for stories (etc) are most welcome and should be directed to our newsletter editor. If you would like to know more about the JET Programme, JETAA, or if you think that JETAA may be of assistance, please do not hesitate to contact us.
