Emperor's Birthday Bash
- By Jennifer Swanton

Another function took place at the residence a few weeks later on Dec 4th. This time it was in aid of the Emperorfs Birthday. Amongst the 500 odd guests who attended the outdoor reception were such dignitaries as the Lord Mayor of Melbourne, the Right Honorable John So who made some welcoming remarks, and the Honorable Phil Honeywood, Shadow Minister for Education who conducted the toast. In between munching on sushi, tempura and yakitori, it was a great chance to meet plenty of new people as well as rekindle some old acquaintances - I met one of my former lecturers from my uni days whom I hadnft seen for almost ten years!

Although it was arranged at fairly late notice, we also held a Christmas dinner on December 15th. Wefre very pleased by the fantastic turnout, and hope that many of you can come to our next event - a picnic in the Fitzroy Gardens.
